OFAC designated more than 50 people, companies, and vessels in Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani's shipping network on July 14, including container carriers and logistics companies operating across Singapore, the UAE, India, Hong Kong, and multiple flag states.
Why it matters
The action reaches ordinary container and cargo workflows, not only oil tankers. U.S. persons generally cannot transact with the named parties or blocked vessels outside an authorization, and OFAC's 50 Percent Rule can also block entities they own even when those entities are not named separately.
